Eumir Marcial Wins in Pro Boxing Debut
Tokyo Olympics-bound Filipino boxer Eumir Felix Marcial had a triumphant professional boxing debut on Wednesday night (Thursday in the Philippines) at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles.
It was a smashing debut for the 25-year-old Marcial as he pounded American Andrew Whitfield for a unanimous decision win in their middleweight division match.
Marcial, one of the two Filipino boxers competing in the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics, was a 40-36, 40-36, 40-36 winner in all judges following his annihilation of Whitfield.
Marcial dedicated his triumph to his MP Promotions boss Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao, who was celebrating his 42nd birthday on Thursday.
US,” said Marcial who travelled to the US last October to train under Freddie Roach.
With the win, Marcial now has 1-0-0 win-loss-draw ring record, while Whitfield saw his slate dropped to 3-2-0, including two stoppage wins.
