Goodbye PBA na? Kelly Nabong released by NorthPort
Controversial bruiser Kelly Nabong has been officially released by NorthPort Batang Pier, making him a free agent for the upcoming PBA 46th season.
The 32-year-old wasn’t given a chance to renew his contract, and had since been released by the franchise, according to his agent Danny Espiritu.
The Fil-American Nabong was coming off his best season in the league during the Philippine Cup bubble, averaging 11.5 points and 5.1 rebounds in 11 games with the Batang Pier, although NorthPort only came up with a single win.
Some teams are having second thoughts in signing Nabong because of his temper issues that followed him throughout his PBA career.
It also didn’t help that Nabong got into an altercation with former San Miguel teammate Arwind Santos last November 10, proving that there was no love lost between the two after the San Miguel practice brawl that involved former import Dez Wells and Ronald Tubid.
