Meyers Leonard slapped with $50,000, one-week suspension for Anti-Semitic slur

The NBA slapped Miami Heat center Meyers Leonard with a $50,000 (over P2,400,000), and a one-week suspension from all Heat facilities and team activities for using Anti-Semitic slur during his Twitch stream playing Call Of Duty.

“Meyers Leonard’s comment was inexcusable and hurtful and such an offensive term has no place in the NBA or in the society,” Commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement.

Leonard’s $50,000 fine was the largest one he could get in, per the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement.

Leonard faced some backlash for admitting his ignorance regarding his Anti-Semitic slur.

“F****** cowards, don’t f****** snipe at me you f****** k*** b****”

The Heat have announced that Leonard will be away from the team indefinitely.
