Rain or Shine Eyes Santillan at no. 5

Rain or Shine Elasto Painters is looking at using its no. 5 pick in the 2020 PBA Rookie Draft on Sunday in selecting former De La Salle University Green Archers forward Leonard Santillan.
Painters head coach Chris Gavina said he was impressed with the ability of Santillan, a member of the Philippine 3 x 3 squad and former stalwart of the Zamboanga-Family’s Brand Sardines in the MPBL.
“We feel he has the ability to play inside and stretch the floor. He’s a proven rebounder and plays with grit and toughness, all attributes that could fit well with our team identity,” Gavina told PBA Rush.
The Painters had a change of heart on their no. 5 pick following the ineligibility of Filipino-American guard Jason Brickman.
Instead, Gavina said that they will use their three selections in the second round to bolster its point guard position.
Among the notable guards that are likely to fall in the second round include Aljun Melecio and Andrei Caracut, Jerrick Ahanmisi, RK Ilagan, Anton Asistio, Philip Manalang and Jerie Pinggoy.
