Rockets will retire James Harden Number 13

The Houston Rockets will always be grateful for James Harden’s contribution to the organization for nine seasons, despite his controversial exit with the team.

The Rockets will honor Harden’s legacy in the team by retiring his number 13.

This plan to give the ultimate honor to the former MVP was confirmed by Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta.

James Harden will always be a Rocket,” Fertitta said via text message on Houston Chronicles. “Of course, we will retire his jersey. He made my first three years of owning this franchise unforgettable. The success he brought this franchise over eight years and the memories he created for our fan base/community (are) truly remarkable.”

The Rockets have already retired the numbers of Calvin Murphy (23), Moses Malone (24), Hakeem Olajuwon (34), Rudy Tomjanovich (45), Clyde Drexler (22) and Yao Ming (11).

Harden has led the Rockets in the playoffs for eight straight seasons, and even reached the Western Conference Finals twice.
