San Juan Takes Game 2, Ties MPBL Finals at 1-1

San Juan Knights-Go For Gold leaned on a strong fourth quarter to score a 70-65 victory over Davao Occidental Tigers-Cocolife in Game 2 of the MPBL Lakan Season National Finals on Thursday night at the Subic Bay Gymnasium.
With the score tied at 52-all, Mike Ayonayon and John Wilson spearheaded an 8-0 scoring blast to establish a 60-52 lead before Wilson made it a 63-55 count on a three-point conversion.
The Tigers trimmed the deficit to 60-64 with over a minute left but Knights answered back with a basket from Larry Rodriguez and free throws by Wilson and Jhonard Clarito for a 68-62 count.
Davao Occidental made its last push at 65-68 on three free throws by Emman Calo with two seconds remaining in the game but San Juan sealed the victory with two free throws by Clarito.
Wilson finished the match with 17 points, including three triples, while Ayonayon contributed 15 markers and nine assists for the Knights, which tied the best-of-five finals series at 1-1.
Calo, meanwhile, spearheaded the attack for the Tigers with 26 points, Mark Yee chipped in double-double 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Billy Ray Robles contributed 11 points and 10 boards for the Tigers.
