‘Don’t disrespect me’ Lester Prosper to Indonesian fans

Indonesia’s naturalized player Lester Prosper vented out his frustrations towards Indonesian fans after Timnas collapsed against Gilas Pilipinas in the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers on Friday.
This came after news outlet Mainbasket broke the news on Instagram that Indonesia head coach Rajko Toroman plans on the FIBA Asia Cup on August — which involves potentially replacing Lester for another naturalized player Marques Bolden.
This is where the 32-year old had to respond to some comments, saying that he should be replaced in the upcoming Asia Cup.
“Blame it all on me. I guess my double-doubles are not enough. I’m just doing my job,” Prosper said.
“At some point, maybe the system and the coaching staff should be undecided as well.”
Toroman only trained with Timnas for three days ahead of the tournament in Clark Bubble, while Indonesian-American Brandon Jawato is still recovering from his injury.
The Terrafirma Dyip import felt like he is being disrespected by the local fans.
“Even before I got here what games were won?” Prosper asked.
“Come on guys, don’t disrespect me! Real basketball people see the real issue.”
If ever that Prosper will be replaced by Bolden, he has nothing but gratitude for letting him play for Indonesia.
“But as I say if I’m done here, thank you for the ones that have supported me,” he said.
“I tried and that’s all I can do. It’s a team sport.”
