Welcome Na Welcome! Ian Sangalang happy to reunite with ‘Pinatubo Brother’ Calvin Abueva

Reunited and it feel so good!

That was exactly how Magnolia Hotshots center Ian Sangalang felt when he learned that his former college teammate Calvin Abueva will arrive to the team via trade.

“The Beast”, who was fresh from a three-year extension with Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters, was sent to Magnolia in exchange for guard Chris Banchero on Wednesday morning.

This means that two of three members of the ‘Pinatubo Trio’ in San Sebastian Golden Stags will reunite once again — which left Sangalang so excited that he even called his longtime friend.

“I’m really excited to play with Calvin again!” Sangalang told Spin Life.

“Hindi ko expected na mapunta siya samin. Kanina, nag-usap kami kahit sa phone lang at sobrang saya ni Calvin. Syempre, masaya din ako nakita ko siya,” the 29-year old added.

Sangalang assured that he will guide his pal Abueva on his new home for him to sustain his successful comeback in PBA Bubble last year.

The 33-year old came from a 16-month suspension, but he came back to the league a changed-man.

“He promised na iingatan niya ‘yung spot. Kung nasaan siya ngayon, papahalagahan niya ‘yan. I believe na gagawin ni Calvin ‘yan kasi kilala ko siya, gagawin niya talaga ‘yon,” Sangalang said.

“Welcome na welcome siya sa amin, besides, nandon naman ako and ‘yung buong team para tulungan siya.
