Chery Tiggo Stuns Creamline in Premier Volleyball League
Chery Tiggo Crossovers tarnished Creamline Cool Smashers’ erstwhile unbeaten slate with a 25-18, 25-23, 23-25, 25-20 in the 2021 PVL Open Conference on Friday night in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.
After their subpar showing the past few games that also made their head coach Aaron Velez a topic over at the social media by the volleyball fans, the Crossovers bounced back as they dominated the Cool Smashers in the first two sets.
The Crossovers had a chance to sweep the defending champions Cool Smashers in the third set after building a 19-15 advantage but the latter went on a late rally to keep their hopes alive.
Chery Tiggo, however, went for the kill in the fourth set as they established control at 8-4 and holding sway to the finish while pouncing on their rivals’ miscues to clinch the victory.
Chery Tiggo thus improved to 4-2, still at fourth but it stopped Creamline’s impressive win run at five, leaving the latter’s sister team Choco Mucho to assume the solo lead at 5-0.
The victory likewise kept the three others teams, Sta, Lucia (3-3) and BaliPure and Army, toting identical 2-3 slates, in the semis hunt heading to the stretch run of the single rounds elims.
