Ateneo’s Pia Ildefonso on skipping UAAP Season 85: ‘Toughest decision I’ve made’

Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles’ Pia Ildefonso said skipping the upcoming UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament was the toughest decision she has ever made.

The daughter of PBA legend Danny Ildefonso announced her decision on her Instagram account on Saturday but did not elaborate on her reason, saying only that “the hardest battles are those outside the court.”

“Definitely the toughest decision I’ve made. Am choosing to face, fight, and grow through life’s battles outside the sport I love most,” said the 5-foot-9 Pia.

“God knows how much love I have for this bunch. Always thankful and forever grateful for this team, all the opportunities, and blessings,” she added.

“Will always be rooting for you guys. Can’t wait to see you guys play your hearts out this season!”

Pia made her debut for Ateneo during UAAP Season 84 last year and recently played for the Blue Eagles in the UAAP Season 85 women’s beach volleyball tournament.

Pia was in line to get her minutes for the upcoming UAAP indoor volleyball tournament after making an impact for the Blue Eagles in the Shakey’s Super League and V-League.
